Tutor - Communities in Schools, Lake County

Job Summary CIS of Lake County Academic Assistance Program provides after -school services to support student learning and development, including academic enrichment, tutoring, mentoring, homework help, as well as music, arts, sports and cultural activities.
We also offer literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities are to:
Provide academic tutoring assistance to assigned school-age children, either in a group or individually.
Tutors are responsible for providing academic assistance in subjects related to reading and/or math.
Tutors are responsible to participate in deliverance of academic enrichment related to family literacy engagement activities.
Attend periodic training session given by CIS LC Administrative staff members or program managers to increase competency in working with students.
Be responsible for maintaining records on each student who is being tutored, including follow-up and periodic assessment.
Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying.
Help students develop a high level of motivation in academic areas.
Help students develop the communication skills necessary for quality interaction with peers.
Establish and maintain rapport with the assigned student(s).
Serve as a role model for students being served.
Assist in designing and implementing class cooperative projects.
Report directly to the Program Manager.
Follow other job-related duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Director of Operations Location:
School City of East Chicago, Aspire Charter Academy in Gary, and Lake Ridge Schools Education Current PNW Student Federal Work Study Position Experience Some college level course work preferred.
Computer related skills and ability to work with computer assisted learning software.
Pass Drug Test.
Pass Background/Fingerprint Clearance (if on file with school system, a copy must be provided to CISLC Administrative office).
Ability to work with staff and families from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Knowledge in basic level and upper level math; and algebraic concepts.
Previous experience working with adolescents in academic enrichment and recreational programs.
FLSA Status Non-Exempt Recommended Skills Administration Coaching And Mentoring Communication Grammar Literacy Mathematics Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
